Baby Mindful
My business is Baby Mindful with Kirsty. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist specialising in adult mental health. I had my wee boy in 2017 and had a lovely maternity leave going along to loads of baby groups. As the return to work got closer I thought a lot about my work/life balance and felt like I needed a change of direction. I first found out about the Relax Kids franchise, but didn't feel it was quite for me, but then saw another piece of training they offered; Baby Mindful. Off I went down to Birmingham in early 2019, full of nerves to complete the training and gain my qualification to teach classes.
I now offer Baby Mindful groups for 0-6 and 6-12 months as well as Mums to Be, Relaxation for pregnancy classes. The groups focus on allowing you to 'just be' with your baby in a quiet calm space. Activities are based on the Relax Kids seven steps; Move, Play, Stretch, Breathe, Feel, Believe and Relax. We talk about different Mindfulness concepts and how these can help you to be a calmer parent. I've had loads of mums say how calm and relaxed they have felt after sessions. I have loved setting up my business and at the moment my classes take place in Window to the Womb in Hamilton. Please give me a follow on Facebook - Baby Mindful with Kirsty or Instagram - mindful_kirsty. |
Baby Wearing
I am a mum of three and have carried all of my children in slings (my eldest is 11!).
I decided to try using a sling because I had a very traumatic delivery with my first child and as a result of the emergency c-section I struggled to bond with my daughter. Using the sling really helped! I subsequently used slings with my next 2 children and they have made my parenting journey so much easier as well as helping me overcome PND. I have always been passionate about using slings and a believer of using a more gentle style of parenting. People would see me carrying my wee ones and often stop me to ask for advice about their sling. I went on a peer supporter course with School of Babywearing and then later on a carrying course with Slingababy to expand my babywearing knowledge and gain skills to help me pass information onto others effectively. Keen to help enable other local families to carry I set up a sling library have run drop-in sessions across Lanarkshire. More recently people have been able to have online sling consultations and hire slings via post. I also have an interest in pregnancy and childbirth and decided I wanted to study to become a doula. I started training with Red Tent doulas a few years ago and this year, I joined the Badass doula course. I have a variety of post natal doula support packages. I support new parents both emotionally and practically as they make the transition into parenthood. I am also a mother supporter, trained by Association of Breastfeeding Mothers. If you would like any more information about any of my services then please get in touch either through my website at www.littlepumpkins.co.uk or email me [email protected] |

Chiropractor
Francesca is a Webster certified Chiropractor, CranioSacral Therapist, Visceral Manipulation Practitioner, Doula and Pilates Instructor based in Ayrshire.
The Webster technique is a series of gentle but specific adjustments which aim to have your body functioning at its optimum. This includes addressing the alignment of the bones and soft tissues of pelvis to give your baby the space it needs to grow and move, aswell as ensuring that your nervous system is sending clear signals and working at its best! After their journey into the world (whatever twists and turns this may involve), Francesca loves to check newborns, almost as like an M.O.T, to ensure there is nothing holding them back from flourishing and becoming the best version of themselves as they grow. She has vast experience in working with premature babies, those with feeding or latching issues or with cranial distortions, amongst many other ‘diagnosed’ conditions. She is also used to co-managing and working as part of a team with health-visitors, midwives, lactation consultants etc. Francesca welcomes patients of all ages and backgrounds but her real passion is working with pregnant mums, babies and children. This is because she believes that rather than waiting for problems to arise, early checks and gentle adjustments set the whole family up for a healthier, happier life. Please like, follow and share ‘CoreHealth Chiropractic’ on facebook or contact 07871 289 345, [email protected] for any further information. |

Counselling
Feeding Support
I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), baby-led weaning consultant and dietetic student.
My journey to support mothers breastfeeding their babies started while I was working as a paediatric nurse on a neonatal intensive care unit in Germany. After moving to Scotland and passing the exam to become an IBCLC I started my private practice offering antenatal breastfeeding workshops and 1:1, postnatal consultations, a breastfeeding support group and baby-led weaning workshops. Just shortly before lockdown I gave birth to our first baby. Despite working in the field, my own breastfeeding journey was a huge challenge battling posterior tongue tie, persistent thrush, exclusive pumping for a month, breastfeeding aversion and the temporary need for specialty formula before it became an enjoyable and rewarding experience. If you are looking for information on breastfeeding or the introduction of solids follow my Facebook and Instagram @thefamilyprojectuk or write me an email to [email protected] |
First Aid
Hi, I’m Robyn, my husband Sean and I are the owners of First Stop Safety Training. Our company deliver a variety of First Aid courses and workshops with a difference across Scotland. We pride ourselves in being specialists in the field of paediatrics delivering baby & child first aid workshops targeting new and expecting parents, accredited Paediatrics qualifications and workshops designed for children.
I’ve been delivering first aid courses for over 10 years but realised the focus was on working environments and adults only. With 500,000 under 4s ending up in casualty every year due to an accident at home I felt there should be more training available for home environments. Parents lacked essential paediatric first aid knowledge but they don’t need to sit through a full day of training listening to the health and safety aspects of a typical course and paying for a certificate valid for 3 years. No, they needed to know the basics, in a quick period of time, in an environment that was baby friendly. Bringing a little one into the world is exciting but scary (we can relate, we have a 10 week old) so we wanted to create a training session that left parents and carers feeling empowered and confident, that if an emergency was to arise, they would be able to act fast and take control. With Sean’s background in sports science and personal training we felt we could create a first aid training company that combined all our skills. We wanted to shake up a stale industry and give it a new lease of life, delivering fun, interactive training that people actually enjoyed. Our popular Tiny Lives workshop often sells out and is suited to anyone who would like to have basic first aid and emergency lifesaving training involving babies and children. Ideal for parents, those expecting, grandparents, babysitters and carers. We discuss accident prevention, how to identify first aid emergencies and what action to take. We can also deliver these in a private setting from the comfort of your own home to small groups. |
Massage
"I am Sam, a soft tissue therapist, which essentially is a massage therapist with a few extra bits thrown in."
Sam began her career in soft tissue therapy 8 years ago, training with the Western School of Massage in both Swedish and Remedial & Sports Massage. Her new career was quickly interrupted by the birth of her beautiful boy, and it was her birth journey, emergency c section, and postnatal recovery which got Sam interested in the idea that soft tissue work and touch can help many aspects of postnatal recovery from c-section scar massage, postural changes, core reconnection, diastasis rehab, alignment and improve general feeling of wellbeing. She believes strongly that the 4th trimester is as much about the woman finding her feet and reconnecting with her own body, as it is about the baby, for when a baby is born, a mother is born as well. In our modern lives this is often neglected and we lose that important step in the journey. She has gone on and studied pregnancy and postnatal soft tissue work with both the OMT and Burrell Education, and uses these skills in her clinic on a daily basis with pregnancy massage, postnatal massage and c section recovery. Sam busied herself during lockdown developing a 'C Section Resource Pack'. This is a much needed resource helping women understand and guide them through the journey of recovery. It's packed full of content of what to expect at each stage of the healing, how to help themselves in their own recovery, and navigates questions like returning to exercise, scar work and the emotional side of recovery. Her interests have also widened into the general bracket of women's health. She went on to broaden her scar therapy skills with trainer Emma Holly who teaches the Sharon Wheeler ScarWork principles. She is fascinated how these can be applied to all types of scars, improving the sensation, function, feel and look of the area, and how the scar impacts other areas of the body creating tension. She is particularly interested in using these skills to help with gynae surgeries such as hysterectomies, and also post oncology surgeries including mastectomies and lumpectomies. She is currently studying additional certificates in menopause health and is near completion of a diploma in oncology massage. Sam loves working with all types of people as the skillsets are transferable across all types of issues and injuries. “The body is a truly fascinating thing and every day for me is a learning day!”. Sam values the need for people to not only be worked on, but also to be listened to, and the consultation is a very big part of her treatment process. She works during the week from her home studio in Cambuslang, and has a studio clinic in East Kilbride on a Saturday. You can contact Sam via her fb page @SamMassageTherapy, Tel: 07818 477858, and find out more about her services on her website: www.SamMassageTherapy.co.uk |
Photography
Louise Mallan is Glasgow photographer specialising in newborn baby photography.
Newborn photography is a once in a lifetime experience as your child will change and grow in the blink of an eye. Capturing these teeny tiny details that will change so quickly is an investment that you will treasure forever. Most newborn sessions take place within the first 10-14 days after the baby is born. At this stage I can pose your baby in those sleepy curled up positions that you will see in my portfolio. After two weeks it is still possible to photograph your newborn however, babies tend to be less sleepy and want to stretch out, so certain poses might not be possible. This is why it is best to photograph your newborn baby within the first two weeks of their life. Choosing a Photographer is a difficult decision! I hope from the images on my website's gallery and reading reviews from previous customers you will see that Newborn photography is something that I specialise in. I have a 1st Class Honours degree in photography and started specialising in newborn photography over 5 years ago. I am fully insured and have trained extensively in newborn safety and in the art of newborn posing. I am a proud member of the Baby and Newborn Photography Association (Banpas) who promote newborn safety. I am lucky enough to have trained with some of the leading newborn photographers in the UK and from the US. I absolutely love what I do and like to ensure the very best for my clients. Physiotherapist (Catriona Monkhouse Physiotherapy)
Hi, I’m Cat and I run Catriona Monkhouse Physiotherapy and Pilates based in East Kilbride. I have a background in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, however after having my first child in 2013 I developed a passion for women’s health and helping other mums so went onto train in this speciality. I now use my combined expertise in these two areas to provide the best outcomes for my clients.
I can support you throughout your pregnancy to by providing treatment and rehabilitation for pain such as pelvic girdle pain, advise you on keeping active in pregnancy and through ante natal Pilates. In the post-natal period-I provide the Mummy MOT which is a comprehensive post- natal assessment, including checking for diastasis (tummy gap) and assessing the pelvic floor to check strength, tone and checking for pelvic organ prolapse. The Mummy MOT can be beneficial anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 years post birth, so don’t worry you have left it too long if you have symptoms that are still bothering you. I am trained in acupuncture and recently completed additional training specific to women’s health. I am also trained in ante and post-natal Pilates which I utilise as part of my rehabilitation. With my background in sports I am also passionate about safely guiding women to return to doing what they love, so if your keen to return to running or weights in the gym but need some guidance on how to do that safely, I can help. I believe a huge part of my role is education and we need to get the message out that after having a baby, leaking is common but not normal and that there are things we as women’s health physiotherapists can do to help. So if your putting up with not being able to chase your toddler or jump on a trampoline, get in touch. My email is [email protected] and my Facebook page can be found here. |
Pilates
Hello there!
I’m Arleen Dingwall, a local East Kilbride Pilates teacher. Teaching fitness is all I’ve ever known – in fact I’ve been doing it 30 Years!! I feel incredibly lucky to still be doing a job I absolutely love and particularly enjoy teaching and specialising in pregnancy and postnatal Pilates. I am so passionate about helping mums to be and new mums through their exercise journey during and after pregnancy. It’s such an important time to nurture your body, keep active and of course, look after your pelvic floor!! Not only do you have a six week course of classes but you also get access to my website channel where you’ll get tons of content if you wish to catch up at home. I often receive messages asking me if I do ‘non pregnant’ classes. I absolutely do. In fact pregnancy and postnatal is just a small part of my working week. I am a trained GP exercise referral teacher, this allows me to work with clients who suffer with any conditions which may limit their ability to exercise. This qualification then allowed me to specialise further. I had a particular interest in lower back pain having being a sufferer following the birth of my children, hence training as a Level 4 Lower back pain specialist. I know and have seen (as well as experienced myself) the difference Pilates makes to back pain clients. This is also something that many pregnant and postnatal women experience so it ties in quite nicely with my Pre and postnatal work. Love, Arleen |
Placenta Encapsulation
Hi, I’m Rachel, founder of Placenta Power Lab Glasgow. Placenta Power Lab was launched in 2017 with the view to making placenta encapsulation a accessible post natal recovery supplement for Glasgow mothers.
Having suffered from postnatal depression following the birth of my first son I was put on anti depressants by my doctor. Whilst pregnant with my second son I decided to look at alternative methods of treating post natal depression and stumbled upon placenta encapsulation. Your placenta contains the extraordinary power to heal and re-energise your body, due to the many hormones, vitamins and minerals it contains. I was sold and began looking for someone to transform my placenta into pills but at the time I struggled to find a specialist near me. Being a qualified biomedical scientist I felt naturally interested in the process and my lab training meant I was trained in aseptic technique. I decided to get trained and encapsulate my own placenta. The benefits I experienced were phenomenal; decreased bleeding, increased milk production, more energy and NO baby blues. Friends began approaching me to do the same for them and I did... and they reported the same benefits. I was soon being approached by friends of friends and other expectant mums willing to pay for my service and that is when I decided to launch as a business. My main goal is to always achieve a high level of customer satisfaction with the services and products that I provide. The process is quick, the placenta is packed in ice, collected, inspected, cut and dried before being placed into capsules. The finished product is returned to mum within 24-48 hours meaning the benefits are reaped almost immediately. I feel education and awareness of placenta encapsulation is key in the prevention and reduction of post natal depression. |

Sleep support
Are you exhausted and struggling? Tired of being tired? I can help!
When our little ones struggle with sleep or reflux it's tough! And when we're exhausted, we can't function properly. I'm a Sleep Coach and Reflux Practitioner for babies and toddlers, working with families from newborn to 6 years old. If your little one has reflux, I will help find the root cause. Reflux is a symptom of something else causing your baby's discomfort - it's not a disease and it's not 'normal'. If your little one is struggling with sleep, I will help find the cause of the sleep challenges through emotional wellness and sleep science. I'll look at the big picture including environment, routines, sleep needs and sleep associations. I will support you and provide you with the tools, knowledge and confidence to help your little one sleep and feel better - meaning your family can sleep better and feel better! Various packages are available to suit. |
Water Babies
My Business Partner, Ashley, and I run the Water Babies franchise across Glasgow, Ayrshire and Edinburgh.
At Water Babies we’ll teach you to teach your baby to swim. From lesson one, we’ll get your little one used to the sensation of water, developing their natural instincts and transforming these into core aquatic skills. By the end of our program, your little one will be swimming freely using different strokes and be able to keep themselves safe in and around water. Our lessons are intimate, with a maximum of 10 little ones, a carer per child and one of our teachers in the pool at any one time. They’re 30 minutes long and take place each week, so it’s a wonderful way to bond with your baby away from the craziness of life. Skills are taught through song, play and repetition, so there’s never a dull moment when you’re in the pool. Our teacher’s will tailor each lesson to your little one’s ability, so it’s only when they’re ready that we’re ready. And as we navigate our new normal, rest assured that when pools in Scotland do reopen, all Water Babies staff are fully trained and equipped to carry out our new safety measures to the highest standard. You’ll still receive the warmest of welcomes while we ensure your journey with us. |
Yoga
Annie Perry has been running YogaBellies classes for all women in East Kilbride for nearly 7 years. She is a specialist in women’s yoga and runs inclusive and welcoming classes for women throughout the life stages but she specialises in pregnancy yoga and post natal yoga and yoga that focuses on menstrual health. Recently she has written and launched YogaBellies for Fertility throughout the UK. These are unique classes that support and aid women on their trying to conceive or ‘TTC’ journey.
She runs her classes from her own studio, The Luna Centre, in East Kilbride which has recently reopened following COVID lockdown, but due to the success of her online classes that she delivered during lockdown she is keeping many of her classes online too. Her classes are all about providing a warm welcoming non-judgemental environment for women to practice yoga, whether this is online or in person. Her pregnancy classes are so much more than a yoga class, the breathing and positions she teaches are completely invaluable for birthing and the feedback from her clients speak for themselves! |
